Call for Nominations to the Board of Directors

Are you:

  • Passionate about making a difference in the lives of people impacted by gender-based violence?
  • A self-motivated, results-oriented person who has time, energy, and expertise to share?
  • An active supporter of feminist principles of political, economic and social equality?

PearlSpace Support Services Society (PearlSpace), a purpose-driven organization serving women, Two-Spirit, non-binary, gender-diverse, trans people, children and youth throughout the Sea to Sky corridor since 1981, is inviting the nomination of candidates for its Board of Directors. Each candidate must be nominated by a current member of PearlSpace.

Nominees must provide the following information for consideration of their candidacy:

  4. Short bio (150 – 200 words)
  5. Photo of candidate
  6. And Become a Member

Important skills that we look for in a Board Member:

  • An understanding of the non-profit sector and related issues and challenges.
  • Experience in non-profit board governance and financial management.
  • Experience engaging with governments and the private sector, including the emerging fields of social enterprise and corporate social responsibility.
  • Relevant community or industry experience such as accounting, financial services, human resources, facilities management, law, social services, fund raising.
  • An understanding of systemic discrimination facing women, girls and gender-diverse folks, the dynamics of gender-based violence, and the impacts for children who witness abuse.
  • Enthusiasm and energy to work with a committed team of board members and staff to support women, gender-diverse folks and children throughout the Sea to Sky Corridor.
  • A background that reflects the contemporary diversity of Canada.

There are ten (10) elected positions on the Board of Directors. There are currently 2 vacant seats, one of which is dedicated for a member of the Sḵ wx̱wú7mesh or Lil’wat Nations.

All submissions must be received by admin@pearlspace.ca no later than August 31, 2025. Nominees are invited to present their candidacy platform in a 2 – 4 minute speech at the Annual General Meeting on September 10, 2025 at 4:30pm at the PearlSpace Drop-In Centre (38021 Third Avenue, Squamish).
